Drawing Cartoon Faces​​
Creating memorable characters and conveying their thoughts through the manipulation of facial features is the cornerstone of any cartoon. Students will study the rules of portraiture so they can bend and even break them in order to breath life into their characters.
Exercise #1: The Balloon Face Challenge!

We'll begin with a row of balloons...
Imagine a vertical and horizontal axis...
Next, we'll try some simple expressions:
Look at how that ballon becomes a person!
What else can we try?
Focus on one character - adding in the ears, nose and hair:
Now, what happens if we add a light?
If we can bring a balloon to life, the sky's the limit!
